Sure, it was Winter Break, but Mio was allowed into the school because the doors are always open. She sat in the table, eating two plates of traditional plates of food. - Plates of Food

Keal entered the cafeteria slowly, sleepily. He had left his chemistry book in the cafeteria and when Cai jumped on him this morning with instructions from Mom that they had to get their homework done. He really didn't want to be stuck with homework, so he went for the one book he couldn't find and went to 'look' for it.
His eyes caught on a girl sitting at a table eating, the same table that his book was sitting on. He moved towards her and picked his book up, "What are you doing here over vacation?"

"Eating."said Mioshi briefly. She ate one egg roll."Would you like one?"

Keal eyed the girl confused before shrugging and slipping into the seat next to her, "Sure." He took an eggroll cautiously as if he was expecting it to bite him.
He was still confused, "Why would you come to school to eat over vacation? Isn't it the life goal of every student to escape school as much as humanly possible?" Green eyes stared at the girl in wonder and confusion. He really couldn't understand why someone would willingly come to school over vacation. He was here to get a book, but that was getting him out of doing school work, there was some logic to it.

"I didn't go to school much in Japan, just three times every ten days. We take what we get."Mioshi replied softly."What is your name, oh sarcastic one?"

Keal turned slightly red at the comment, he was being rude. Here the girl was just eating her lunch and he had interrupted, eaten some of her food, and not even told her his name. "Keal Vail," he answered her quietly. Then another question popped into his head, "Isn't Japan supposed to have an extremely rigours school course? I thought you were supposed to go to school then leave school and go to a different school all in one day over there!"
He had always wanted to go to Japan, it seemed like it would be alot of fun, and now there was a Japanese girl sitting across from him. "Oh, and what's your name?" he asked curiously. Usually the boy was cold to people, but he was just too interested to care right now. He wanted to know all about Japan and the strange girl in front of him.

"Not when you're poor, like I am."Mio explained."You can't afford it."Mio looked saddened, then looked up to the boy with her dark, heart-melting eyes."Keal? Nice to meet you. I am Mioshi Chisoperta Lai, but you can call me Mio for short."

"Poor is what you make of it," Keal answered. But he fell silent after that and turned rolled the girl's name over in his head, it was pretty. "So what brought you here, Mio?" he asked after a moment, running a hand through the black and blue hair.

"We wanted to get away from Japan. They were treating us badly, along with my mother, Yushka."Mio said."I now have two dogs and live in a beautiful seventy-dollar house. Would you like to go to it right now?"

"As much as I would love to, I've orders to get my school work done today. Only reason I'm even awake at this hour is because of that," he explained the annoyance clear in his voice. He motioned to the textbook he had picked up on his way in as part of his explanation.
"If you need a ride home, though, I could give you one," he added after a moment. "There's nothing wrong with avoiding homework by giving rides to people," he said innocently, the image of his Mom not being able to yell at him for it clear in his mind.
